Pasar Beringharjo – in Jogja, Java – is one of those big, sprawling south-east Asian urban markets that seem to sell almost everything. This post focuses on the ladies – and occasional rogue gentleman – selling fabric, dresses, shirts, bags and headscarves.

    The composition in all these photos is great! I loved the one with the two mannequins and the vendeuse in the middle.

    I’m partial to the older woman in white – so elegant but resigned – and the first picture, for the woman’s truly friendly, warm expression. She seems to have a sense of humor.
