Metallurgy
There are a lot of pagodas in Yangon. A lot. And someone has to do all that skillful carving, shaping, welding and engraving. In the city’s Kyeemyindaing neighbourhhood last March, I came across a cluster of workshops where a lot of these ornate decorations are made.

I saw a smaller group of workshops over the river from Mandalay on the road to Mingun.
Wow, this is a find! I think I’d be jumping up and down if I came across this. 🙂 In the second photo, how interesting to see him holding the piece with his toes. In many of these I like the way your dark exposure enhances the shine of the metal. I like the slight creepiness of the 6th photo – the wrapped buddhas. I’m a big fan of seeing things through translucent barriers. Amazing tattoos on that one man….wonderful series!
