All about the red
The photos are great, I especially like the one with the cat. Do you know what the cultural context of these amulets is? Buddhist, I am guessing, but why the vast numbers of sellers ( and buyers)?
Yes, they’re Buddhist amulets. I think people wear them to bring themselves luck, prosperity, fertility, depending on the type of amulet.
Love the light and textures but think the cat must be my favourite!
Where is this amulet market? There is a large one out at Wongwian Yai which is worth a look. Very much locals only…
I missed that one, but it sounds good. These pictures were all taken in the market on Maharat Road, near the Grand Palace.
